Personal Experience

Leeanne joined Harris Cuffaro & Nichols in September 2023 as an Accredited Police Station Representative and Criminal Defence Paralegal.

As a member of the Magistrates Court team, Leeanne’s primary focus is client representation/liaison and case progression.

Following attendance at the police station Leeanne can continue to advise and assist you during the investigation stage of your case (including pre-charge engagement) and further support you in preparation for first court appearances right through to trial and conclusion of your case.

Leeanne’s duties include:

  • Advising clients regarding eligibility for Legal Aid.
  • Applying for Legal Aid on behalf of clients.
  • Advising and quoting private clients regarding fees.
  • Updating clients on case development and next steps from investigation through to proceedings and conclusion.
  • Review and preparation of case papers.
  • Attending client conferences/prison visits.
  • Taking clients’ instructions and witness statements.
  • Instructing counsel and expert witnesses.
  • Representing our clients at police stations for interview under caution following arrest or attending as a volunteer; for bail to returns, and to advise on charge as required.

Since gaining her LLM Master of Laws England and Wales from Leeds Beckett University in July 2022, Leeanne is training to qualify as a solicitor via the SQE (Solicitors Qualifying Examination).
